Some of the Endurance Horses I Have Trained
|
 |
River Fox Trot 'Fox' - was started rough and abused by someone before he came to me.
Fox was a tough one to retrain and make safe. I put a great deal of time into him and competed on him.
He is now in Montana with Linda Cardenas, Renewal Resources, with the BLM.
Linda rides the Bitterroot Mountain trails on Fox and gives me updates regularly on how great he handles the trails,
he is steady and safe - while other horses spook from wildlife etc. or won't do water crossings etc.
Fox is right there doing what needs to be done. |

Dave Rabe, second all time endurance career mileage, (over 48,000+ miles) rode Midnight Melode Marie - 'Emmy' for me occasionally on multi-day endurance rides (5 days 250 miles) to get the edge off ....he bought her in 2009.
Dave will be competing on the Pony Express 2011 from Saint Joesph to Sacramento - which is a sanctioned Endurance Ride over the original Pony Express Trail. I trained Emmy and also competed on her before Dave purchased her. |

TE Destinee' - a rescue horse, I have just started into my training program and is already showing promise. Correct and proper training takes time. I have competed with TE Destinee' in a 25 and 50 mile rides. This picture is from the Mt. Carmel 50 mile ride his first 50 mile ride. |

WK's Riva Run (WK named for William King Stuckey) was my first real Endurance Horse. Bill had mentored me into the sport of Endurance Riding.
Riva Run given to me by Bill Stuckey's family after Bill fell and had a head injury on an Endurance Ride in Utah and passed away.
Riva Run was pretty much untouchable and had been abused before Bill bought him. I renamed him WK's Riva Run, after Bill. I worked and retrained him, and he became a fathomable competitor.
I retired WK at the age of 17+ with over 6000+ AERC endurance miles and he was never pulled from competition due to lameness or metabolic problems.
Fred and I started the Bill Stuckey Award, which is presented at the AERC annual awards for the rider over 65 years old riding the most miles for the year.
